Her Story Matters was founded as a Community Interest Company to reflect the organisation’s purpose and commitment to community.
From its earliest days, the conviction at the heart of Her Story Matters has remained the same: the people most often overlooked by the systems around them frequently have the most to contribute.
Leadership development is most powerful when it reaches those who have never been told they belong in the room.
As Her Story Matters grows, so does our capacity to act on that conviction. The programmes below are being developed with the same thoughtful design we bring to every engagement and will be announced as they become ready.
What we are building
Internship Programme
A structured, supported experience for emerging professionals seeking to develop their skills within a mission-driven international organisation. Our internships cover consultancy, communications, editorial, and programme delivery, providing genuine hands-on development.
We are committed to making these internships accessible to those who would benefit most, including individuals who have not had the networks or pathways that others often take for granted.
Mentoring and Shadowing
Direct access to senior leadership thinking for individuals at an earlier stage of their career or leadership journey. Mentoring is one of the most underused tools for developing leaders who go on to influence organisations, and we offer it with the same rigour and care that guides our work.
Graduate and Emerging Talent Initiatives
Partnerships with universities, colleges, and talent programmes create opportunities for graduates entering the leadership and governance space, particularly those from communities underrepresented in institutional and organisational leadership.
Community Partnerships
Collaborations with organisations, charities, and community groups whose missions align with our own, working together to develop leadership capacity where it is needed most and where it will create lasting change.
Pro Bono and Subsidised Engagements
Each year, Her Story Matters reserves a portion of its consultancy capacity for organisations doing vital work. We recognise that those most in need of strong governance are often the least resourced.
Applications are reviewed personally. We look for organisations with a clear mission, a genuine governance or leadership need, and the willingness to engage fully in the work.
